If you think about it, the phrase “dance with me” is actually an invitation – a sweet request – to join together in the creation of something beautiful as a couple. These words are neither to be uttered in a demanding tone, nor with expectations that you merely do as I say. Both the request and its response are intended to be something we do together in harmony with one another and with God’s plan. The dance applies to married people for sure, but also to those of us who are hopeful about finding romance. We enter into the dance desiring to learn from each other the essential steps needed to dance as one. As we do so, we learn more about ourselves, other people, and Our Heavenly Father. It’s wonderful. It’s difficult. And it’s always worth it … even when our toes get stepped on.
