Premarital Counseling

We believe romance is a gift from God. And we belief that there's nothing more romantic than a man and woman who feel totally safe and "at home" with one another. We're here to help you develop a secure bond to last a lifetime.

We want to help you deepen your connection to one another before you marry. We know it's not always easy. Despite their best efforts, some couples are already beginning to struggle with recurring arguments that circle around a few key triggers and issues.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a structured, short-term approach to counseling. Most premarital couples complete the process in 6 to 8 sessions, though you may decide to continue a bit longer if you have already hit some rough spots.

NOTE: Weekly sessions are 75 minutes in length. Research shows that these longer sessions are more productive for couples.

Assessment & Identifying Negative Cycles

No two couples are alike, and we want to get to know each of your unique personalities, learn how you interact as a couple, and help you find the best ways to be responsive to one another.

So you and your partner will receive a thorough assessment of your individual and relational dynamics at the beginning of counseling.

Part 1: You and your partner will meet together to explore your goals for your marriage. NOTE: Before the session begins, you will be asked to complete the forms below. (If you prefer, you may download the forms now, print, complete, and bring them with you to your first session.)

Part 2: Your second session will be split between you and your partner. Prior to your second appointment, you will need to complete the Life Functioning Inventory. (You may download it now, respond to the questions, and bring the completed form with you.) While your counselor is meeting with your fiance, you will be completing the Couple Assessment Questionnaires, which will be provided when you arrive for your appointment.

Part 3: Your counselor will meet with you both to review the results of your assessment and your goals, as well as answer any questions you may have about the remainder of the premarital counseling process.
